Key Highlights
Disco Nap: Grant starts off by describing his Friday evening routine, which involves coming home, relaxing on the couch, and letting fate decide when he wakes up. Lets be real we all feel like taking one of these naps from time to time! He also shares how his cool older cousins from New York introduced him to the term "disco nap" to describe this Friday relaxation ritual.
Confessions: Grant humorously confesses how, in his ninth year of teaching, he has a little clipboard that he walks around with and take notes on just to make sure he can keep track of all the kids that have asked to go to the bathroom because his school only allows them to send one at a time and if he feels like he is in a big part of the lesson he doesn't let kids go and so has to mention their names on stickers to make sure that whoever asked first gets to go first. Laughing at this story Grant shares his funny teaching habits as well such as always forgetting to take attendance and then making kids do head count at the very last moment, just as the bell rings.
Agatha Christie: The hosts share the intriguing story of Agatha Christie, the famous author of murder mystery novels who disappeared in 1926. On the evening of December 4th, she left her English home, leaving only an abandoned car near Guildford. Initially, there were speculations of publicity stunts and even suicide, but the police conducted a search involving thousands of people, trained dogs, and spiritualists. Agatha Christie's husband received a letter from her, saying she was going to a spa, but doubts arose later. Bizarre elements, such as headlines about terriers assisting in the search and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle leading a séance, add to the mystery surrounding her vanishing act. The police even discovered items like a bottle labelled "poison." Maia and Grant explain how the case got even more complex with time, so make sure to stick right till the end!
Key Quotes
- “I nestle up on my couch with all my blinds open cuz it's like a beautiful evening and then I just let God decide when I'm going to wake up.”
- "The emotional hangover is so real. I don't want to be sitting at an office desk looking at screens, to the point where my head hurts and I would rather be just having a silly little treat on a cobblestone in Europe."
- "Our next merch line needs to be 'I'm a spreadsheet girl' and it needs to be in green, or 'I'm a Google Doc boy' and it needs to be in blue. Those are the two genders, that is the biggest divide between us."
